Hier - durchaus auch in "eigener Sache" - ein Auszug aus dem Newsletter 07/06, des ’Germany - Land of Ideas’ Media Service vom 29. Mai 2006:
Spectacular shot: experience football as if you were in the stadium:
World premiere of cinematic technology: football like in the stadium
On Wednesday 14 June 2006, starting at 5.30 pm, you can experience a world
premiere of visionary cinematic technology at CinemaxX in Berlin’s Potsdamer
Platz. The ’Land of Ideas’ initiative and ’Invest in Germany’, the German
government’s national marketing agency, invite you to their media event
entitled ’New Media and Beyond’. In a trailer especially produced for the
occasion, you will see how we will be watching football in the future. With a
unique 5000 x 2000 pixel resolution, you can see the entire pitch without any
change of perspective or camera panning - almost as if you were in the
stadium. The compression technology, cameras and projection equipment were
developed by researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits
(the inventors of MP3), together with ARRI and Kinoton. To date, only
prototypes of this technology exist - all of them ’Made in Germany’. Now you
can be there when its performance is tested for the first time.
The event will also include a presentation of the intelligent service platform
’servingo’, which sends 3D game scenes to your mobile phone and offers further
new applications for mobile communications and entertainment.
To conclude the evening you will be able to watch the World Cup qualifying
match between Germany and Poland live in ’2 k’, the Hollywood standard for
digital cinema, on a 27 metre screen. We would be very pleased if you can keep
the evening free for this Land of Ideas event. You will receive an e-mail
invitation over the next few days.
You can also register now for the event. Please send an e-mail containing your
name and the name of the medium you are working for to
Please note that limited seats are available for our guests at this premiere.
